Grading System

The Record Cellar realizes that the condition of older records cannot possibly be factory mint in condition.
We have gone to great lengths to determine a fair grading system as described below.
The first grade relates to the Cover, and the second relates to the Vinyl itself.

  • M (MINT): Still sealed
  • NM (NEAR MINT): Was opened to determine what was inside or is so close to Mint it looks Brand New
  • VG (VERY GOOD): has little or nothing that affects appearance or play
  • G (GOOD): A rare enough album that it is present as a filler to a collector who may want it until a better copy shows up
  • P (POOR): Beatles Butcher Cover or equivalent type of album otherwise not on these pages
  • + or – indicates whether the grading is at the upper or lower end of the scale
